MIT engineers have created a window-sized, passive water harvester using an origami-like hydrogel panel sealed behind a glass chamber with a cooling surface. This device absorbs water vapor from the air at night (when humidity is higher) and then releases it during the day\u2014condensing clean, drinkable water on the glass to be collected via a drip tube. This new atmospheric water harvester has successfully captured vapor and produced safe drinking water across a range of humidity levels, including extremely dry desert air.<\/p>\n
